The Department of Labour has decided to bring the Future of Work web site to a close.
In time, some of the Future of Work web material will be transferred to the research papers section in the publications area of the general web site.
The Department is currently developing a labour market futures programme.
The futures programme will draw on resources and knowledge inside and outside of the Department of Labour to provide authoritative insights on future labour market trends and their implications.
Futures work is part of the Department’s research interests around the performance and functioning of the New Zealand labour market.
Two recent publications on the implications of an aging workforce are examples of the Department’s current work on labour market futures:
- Older People in Work: Key Trends and Patterns 1991-2005 and
- Ageing Workforces and Ageing Occupations: A Discussion Paper
